【摘要】:General8212;Thisguidecontainsinformationregardingtheuseofmembranetechnologytorecoverandconcentratehazardousmaterialsthathaveenteredsurfaceandgroundwaterastheresultofaspill.Membranetechnologymaybeappliedaloneorinconjunctionwithothertreatmenttechniques,asfollows:Differenttypesofmembraneareusedinserieswithfilterstotreathighlycontaminatedsolutionsreachingconcentrationlevelsofseveralpartspermillionoforganicandinorganicmaterials.Differenttypesofmembranesareappliedinseriestotreatverydiluteconcentrations(partsperbillionlevel)oforganicandinorganiccompounds.Eachmembranetypehastheabilitytoremovespecificcompounds,thusproducingaconcentratedfraction.Thisfractionmayrequirefinaloff-sitetreatmentbutprovidesasignificantreductionintransportationcostsduetothelargevolumereductionachieved.Membranesmaybeusedinconjunctionwithdestructiontechnologiessuchasadvancedoxidationprocesses(AOPs).Thismethodisrecommendedfordilutesolutions.ThemembranetechnologyportionconcentratesthecompoundstoanoptimumlevelforAOPdestruction.1.1Thisguidecoversconsiderationsfortheuseofmembranetechnologyinthemitigationofdiluteconcentrationsofspilledchemicalsintogroundandsurfacewaters.1.2Thisguideaddressestheapplicationofmembranetechnologyaloneorinconjunctionwithothertechnologies.1.3ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Inaddition,itistheresponsibilityoftheusertoensurethatsuchactivitytakesplaceunderthecontrolanddirectionofaqualifiedpersonwithfullknowledgeofanypotentialorappropriatesafetyandhealthprotocols.
